Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game.
We structure, organize and teach baseball and softball skills and knowledge to set children in our community up for future success.
FAQs
What division should I register my child for?
Ages 5-6: Tee Ball
Ages 7-8: Minors
Ages 9-12: Majors
Ages 9-12: Softball
Whatever age your child will be by July 1st of the current season determines the division they play in. Athletes, ages 9-12, may choose to either play baseball or softball.
When does the regular season begin?
Practices typically begin around April 1st, dependent on weather. Majors and Softball teams often begin practicing at indoor facilities (when available) prior to April 1st.
When does game play begin?
Game play typically begins May 1st, once again, dependent on weather.
What is the time commitment?
Tee Ball: 2 days/week
Minors: 2-3 days/week
Softball/Majors: 2-4 days/week
There are a lot of factors that determine how often a team practices: field availability, coaches’ schedules, opposing team availability, etc.
When does game play conclude?
Game play typically concludes in the middle of June.
Are all games played locally?
Tee ball and minors play all games at the Elm Street Sports Complex. Occasionally we will have to utilize another local field due to field availability.
Softball and Majors play approximately half of their games on our home fields at the Elm Street Sports Complex and half our games away. Away games are typically within a thirty mile radius.
I don’t live in Penn Yan. Can my child play?
We currently work with children who live in the Penn Yan or Marcus Whitman School District. We have, on occasion, accepted athletes who do not live in these districts. If you live outside those districts and would like to participate, please contact us using the form in the Navigation.
Are there any opportunities for game play outside the season?
This depends on our volunteer coaches and number of athletes we have interested. We have had majors and softball coaches in the past who were willing to offer post-season opportunities. When we have someone willing to coach and a number of athletes who want to do it, we will offer post-season play.
